Intra-assay Precision (Precision within an assay) Three samples of known concentration were tested twenty times on one plate to assess intra-assay precision.

Inter-assay Precision (Precision between assays) Three samples of known concentration were tested six times on one plate to assess intra-assay precision.

Spike Recovery

The spike recovery was evaluated by spiking 3 levels of human Oxytocin-neurophysin 1/OXT into health human serum sample. The un-spiked serum was used as blank in this experiment.
The recovery ranged from 95% to 119% with an overall mean recovery of 103%.

Sample Values

Serum 30 23.53-1127.81 100 175.25

Serum/Plasma – Thirty samples from apparently healthy volunteers were evaluated for the presence of Oxytocin-neurophysin 1/OXT in this assay. No medical histories were available for the donors.

Background: Oxytocin-neurophysin 1/OXT

This gene encodes a precursor protein that is processed to produce oxytocin and neurophysin I. Oxytocin is a posterior pituitary hormone which is synthesized as an inactive precursor in the hypothalamus along with its carrier protein neurophysin I. Together with neurophysin, it is packaged into neurosecretory vesicles and transported axonally to the nerve endings in the neurohypophysis, where it is either stored or secreted into the bloodstream.
