Intra-assay Precision (Precision within an assay) Three samples of known concentration were tested twenty-two times on one plate to assess intra-assay precision.

Inter-assay Precision (Precision between assays) Three samples of known concentration were tested six times on one plate to assess intra-assay precision.

Spike Recovery

The spike recovery was evaluated by spiking 3 levels of mouse IL-16 into health mouse serum sample. The un-spiked serum was used as blank in this experiment.
The recovery ranged from 81% to 119% with an overall mean recovery of 108%.

Serum/Plasma – Thirty samples from apparently healthy mice were evaluated in this assay. No medical histories were available for the donors.

Background: IL-16

Interleukin 16 (IL-16), also named lymphocyte chemoattractant factor (LCF), is a 14-17 kDa single chain non-glycosylated polypeptide that was originally identified as a CD8+ T cell-derived chemoattractant for CD4+ cells. The expression of IL-16 precursor mRNA has been detected in various tissues including spleen, thymus, lymph nodes, peripheral leukocytes, bone marrow and cerebellum. In addition to its chemotactic properties, IL-16 has also been shown to suppress HIV-1 replication in vitro.
